In short
Strictly necessary storage keeps the site working and remembers your cookie choice — it's always on. Analytics and marketing run only if you switch them on. Open any time to change or withdraw consent.
1. What cookies (and similar storage) are
Cookies are small text files a website asks your browser to store. Related technologies — such as localStorage and sessionStorage — work in a similar way. Together they let a site remember things between page loads, such as that you've already made a cookie choice. Some are essential; others are optional and need your consent.
2. Our consent-first approach
When you first arrive, nothing optional is set. Our banner asks you to Accept all, Reject all or choose per category — and rejecting is exactly as easy as accepting. We only set analytics or marketing technologies after you opt in, and your choice is remembered so we don't keep asking. You can reopen the settings and change or withdraw consent whenever you like.
3. The categories we use
- Strictly necessary — required for the site to function and to remember your cookie choice. These cannot be switched off.
- Analytics — anonymous, aggregated statistics about how the site is used, so we can improve it. Off until you opt in.
- Marketing — used to measure campaigns or show relevant content elsewhere. We run none today; the category exists so that nothing of this kind can ever load without your consent.
4. The actual cookies & storage
Strictly necessary
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Type · lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
wr-consent | well.run | Remembers your cookie preferences so the banner isn't shown again | localStorage · up to 12 months |
wr-signal-debug | well.run | Present only if a developer enables the diagnostics overlay; never set for normal visits | sessionStorage · current session |
Analytics — only after you opt in
If you accept analytics, Google Analytics 4 sets the following cookies to count visits without identifying you. If you don't, none of these are set, and switching analytics back off clears them.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Type · lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes one visitor from another (no name attached) | Cookie · 13 months |
_ga_<id> | Google Analytics | Maintains session state for the property | Cookie · 13 months |
_gid | Google Analytics | Distinguishes visitors over a short window | Cookie · 24 hours |
Analytics is configured with IP-anonymisation and Google Consent Mode, so measurement stays denied until you opt in. If the marketing category is ever activated, the cookies it sets will be listed here before it goes live.
5. Managing your choice
The quickest way to review or change your consent is right here:
You can also control cookies through your browser — most let you block or delete them. Note that blocking strictly necessary storage may stop parts of the site working, including remembering this very preference.
