Brasschaat's 11 July celebration — the Flemish Community's national day — runs all day and into the night, ending with a laser show at midnight. The municipality needed photography that could serve a public audience the same evening, not two days later when the moment had passed.
That meant two things at once: staying present and sharp across a full day of shifting light and unfolding moments, and building a processed, publishable batch of images before the evening programme even began — while the celebration was still live.
We circled the full location repeatedly throughout the day — tracking the light as it changed, staying close to moments as they developed, and finding angles nobody else was at. That included shooting through mirrors and working with whatever natural light was available: direct sun rays in the afternoon, warm evening ambience, and the laser show after dark.
We prioritised shots that showed people as they actually were — not posed, not performed. After taking a shot, we always approached subjects to confirm consent and let them know where the image would be used.
During the event itself, we pre-selected and fully processed the strongest 125 images from the first half of the day. Those were ready and delivered before the evening programme started — giving the client publishable material while the day was still unfolding.
Coverage continued through to the midnight laser show. We completed the remaining edits overnight and delivered the full set of 350 processed images by 9:00 the following morning.

We pushed ISO high and kept the shutter fast to avoid motion blur — then addressed noise in post via Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. We chose sharpness over a clean-but-blurry frame every time.
After capturing a shot, we approached each subject to confirm they were comfortable and to explain where the image would be used. No image was delivered without that step.
